Four STC Elite members got 2013 off to a fine start, winning three events and taking a second at the Herm Wilson Invitational hosted by Wichita State University.

Chandra Andrews got Shocker Track Club their first win of the meet, throwing the 20-lb Weight 59-0.75 to win by almost 10 feet.  Andrews’ best throw of the season so far is 60-8.5 at the STC Fall Throws Pentathlon.

Lawson Montgomery cruised through his 60m hurdle prelim in 8.16 and then improved to 8.04 to take 2nd in the final behind Emporia State’s Andrew Etheridge.  After a winter break where he wasn’t able to do any hurdling, Montgomery didn’t seem to lose much speed as he had run 8.03 before the break at the WSU Intersquad Meet.

Danielle Chapman had an easy victory in the 1000m, running a personal best of 2:52.20.  Chapman took control from the outset and ran away from her opponents, winning by over 14 seconds!

Also, Dylan Hartnett opened his 2013 with a win in the 200m dash.  Running in a competitive heat, Hartnett was able to pull away down the homestretch to win in 22.41.
