The Shocker Track Club Elite team had a great first year! Three athletes competed at the 2012 Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon: Fernada Blakely (200m), Chandra Andrews (Hammer), and Trent Mazanec (Javelin). Darius Draudvila (Decathlon) represented Lithuania at the London Olympics finishing 25th!
Chandra Andrews and Trent Mazanec were coached at the Olympic Trials by current Wichita State Throws Coach, John Hetzendorf (himself a member of the Elite Team). All four Elite team members are expected to continue training in the 2012-2013 year. Two Wichita State athletes who exhausted their collegiate eligibility will join the STC Elite team this winter. Hurdlers Todd McKown and Lawson Montgomery – who also competed at the Olympic Trials – look forward to continuing their careers under the STC banner!
